Salaries of City Officials

In light of the controversy surrounding salaries paid in the City of Bell,South Gate City Council would like to remind residents that since the recall of corrupt City Officials in 2003, the City has created and continues to promote an open, honest, and transparent government. City Salaries have been made available in City Budgets and on the City's website since 2006.

Fiscal responsibility is one of South Gate's top priorities. Last year, City employees were asked to reduce their pay and benefits by 10% and in addition, this year, the City was able to balance the budget by eliminating vacant positions, offering an early retirement program, and a reduction in the City's workforce. Fiscal year 2010-11 will be the third year in a row with expenditure reductions. At the direction of the City Council, City Departments continue to find more efficient and effective ways to operate, while continuing to provide quality services to its residents and businesses.
