Community In Action

In an effort to better serve the citizens of South Gate, the Police Department continues its community-based policing philosophy and efforts through Community in Action (CIA). Through this program, members of The South Gate Police Department seek input from community members to make viable and positive changes in their community. Interaction between the community,The Police Department, and other City Departments is essential in building a strong working relationship that is required for a successful community-based policing program. Community in Action (CIA) incorporates the Neighborhood Watch philosophy by empowering community members to work in concert with the police department to address quality of life issues in their neighborhoods. CIA holds a monthly meeting that is hosted by the Police Department and address pressing issues that are criminal and non-criminal in nature, relevant to all areas of the city. In addition, the Police Department and Community In Action Members participate in events such as, National Night Out, Child Abuse Prevention Month, National Police Week, Crime Prevention Month, Family Day in the Park, and Red Ribbon Week.
