Ronald Bates, City Manager

Ronald Bates, Ph.D.is curently the City Manager for South Gate.

Dr. Bates comes to South Gate with over 38 years experience in municipal government. Besides serving as City Manager of La Habra Heights since 2005, he served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Anaheim and City Manager for the City of Buena Park. Dr. Bates holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from USC. He has been active in a number of prestigious community and municipal organizations, and has received numerous awards for his contributions. Dr. Bates has also served as President of Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and the League of California Cities, a statewide organization.

Dr. Bates assumed the post of City Manager on November 19, 2007.
