Guidelines for the City of South Gate Community Calendar
If you have a community event that you would like to include in the Community Calendar listing, you may fax, mail or email the announcement. Information should be limited to one page with the name of the organization, contact person's name and number, the title of the event, the date(s), the location of the event and a brief description. We will need to receive your announcement at least three (3) weeks prior to the desired post date for the Web Site and eight (8) weeks for our Vista Newsletter.

Who can be on the Community Calendar?
Q: Does the event have to take place in South Gate?A: Yes, the event does have to take place in South Gate to be considered for the calendar.
Q: Does the group sponsoring the event have to be based in South Gate?
A: No, the group does not have to be based in South Gate, but the event must be of interest to members of the community.
Q: Can the organization charge a fee?
A: The organization's event may be included if it meets the other criteria for being listed on the calendar.
Q: What if the event is not open to the general public but only to members?
A: The calendar is meant to serve the community and is reserved for events that are open to the public.
Q: Can the calendar be used to list monthly meetings of organizations?
A: Meetings may be listed if they are open to the general public.
Q: Does the organization have to be non-profit?
A: The calendar is not limited to non-profit organizations; however, events listed should be of interest to the community.
Q: Will individual retailers be able to announce events?
A: Community events such as the Farmers' Market and Sidewalk Sale which do not promote an individual retailer are welcome to submit their event for the calendar.
