Enterprise Zone Program
The Enterprise Zone program offers special state and local incentives to encourage business investment and promote the creation of new jobs. The purpose of the program is to provide tax incentives to businesses within the Zone and allow private sector market forces to revive the economy. Businesses already in the Zone qualify for benefits along with new businesses relocating or expanding into the Zone. The City of South Gate is located within what is known as the Mid-Alameda Corridor Enterprise Zone.
The Enterprise Zone program provides the following tax incentives to qualified businesses:
- Credit for sales and use tax paid on certain machinery;
- Credit for hiring certain unemployed individuals;
- Business expense deduction for the cost of certain machinery;
- Net operating loss carryover;
- Net interest deduction for lenders.
For more information on the Enterprise Zone program, or to apply for the designation of a qualified business, please contact South Gate's Community Development Department at (323) 563-9529.
