Home Improvement Program
What assistance is offered?
Administered by the Economic Development Department, the Home Improvement Loan Program offers:
- A deferred 0% interest loan up to $15,000 for qualified very low income households. The loan is not due and payable unless the house is sold or transferred.
Who is eligible?
Residents of South Gate qualify if their annual gross income does not exceed the income standards established annually by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and if there are not more than 3 units built on the property. (See maximum income chart below.)

What improvements are eligible?
Repair or replacement of major systems (plumbing, electrical and heating) as well as cosmetic and exterior repairs, such as roofing.
